FAQ

For NYP new intakes:
1. I was holding to Poom Belt Certificate before I stopped Taekwondo and decided to re-join Taekwondo in NYP as a CCA, what shall I do?

  • It is advisable for you to go back to your club and instructor and get your Poom Belt Certificate converted to Black (Loyalty to Mother Club)
  • I still wish to attend extra training in NYP / I wish to contribute to NYP TKD Club and be part of the committee, even though I have contacted & will remain member of my Mother Club.
  • Pay training fees and attend training like any other members. You have to give us a photocopy of your BlackBelt Certifiate to prove your grades.  Thereafter, you can represent NYP TKD in any tournaments (gain CCA points if you are selected to be committee member or won medals in tournaments) as long as you have obtained prior approval from your instructor.  We will not put your name in the list of members to inform when there are upgrade and courses, as you have to go through your own Club for such registration.
  • I do not wish to go back to my Club as it is inaccessible / I cannot contact my instructor / I forgot my Club's name and instructor's name + I wish to join NYP TKD for good and contribute to NYP TKD Club
  • Pay training fees and you will be officially under NYP TKD which is managed by Zen Taekwondo Club.  You will be informed of any courses which you are eligible to attend.  Submit Application for Poom to Black/Dan Conversion form (refer to Forms page for the list of documents) to Secretary.

  • (1) Estimate the last grading month and year + Pay S$40 to Secretary + 1 passport sized photo + Photocopy IC to re-do your grading card.  Note that it is S$20 each year of results search fees, excluding $20 to make a new grading card.   If the year or month is wrong, another S$20 is required to search other year/month.  And the fees go on.... If it is more than 10years ago, the fee is S$100.
  • (2) Start from White Belt (pro - build your foundation again , closer ties with the other freshies since the starting point is the same , lesser administrative work and costs)

3. I am a ITF Taekwondo Member, can I convert to WTF/STF Black Belt?
  • ITF BlackBelt - You have to go for BlackBelt Confirmation Grading, ie you may wear BlackBelt Dobok (with STF logo and imprint), but take grading together with the Red 1 to Dan grading. Submit the documents in Forms Page under Application for Promotion Test (Brown 1 & above) to the Secretary before the due date of each quarter's grading.  Submit 1 passport sized photograph for grading card
  • ITF Colour Belt - You have to go for your current grade confirmation grading, ie Pay S$25 as grading fees and re-do the previous belt pattern.  Submit 1 passport sized photograph for grading card.
